Grades 6-12

We will also work on various projects including our 2nd annual Pet Food Drive. Babylon Animal Shelter Director Chris Elton will come to our first meeting to talk about the shelter. He will be bringing a shelter animal. 1 hour of community service credit awarded for each session.

Pizza Delivery“Carry Out A Good Book” Winter Reading Club
Grades K-8
January 3 - February 29, 2012
Register and pick up your reading folder in the Children’s Room. Bring in your folder in to the Children’s Room once per week for prizes. 4 visits and you get entered into a raffle for bigger prizes.
Registration begins Tuesday, January 3, 2011.


chessChess Workshop
Thursdays, January 12,19,26 and February 2, 2012

Grades 3-8
Join instructor, Richard Knox and gain a better understanding of chess through instruction & supervised play. Participants should have some basic knowledge of chess.

Stop by the Lindenhurst Memorial Library and make a colorful valentine for a veteran using our art supplies. Cards will be sent to the Northport VA hospital. No registration required. Community Service Credit awarded if requested.

Each participant will create a video they can share on YouTube. An instructor from Sharper Training Solutions, Inc. will teach you how to combine & edit , work with effects and overlay music to your video.

Library PodcastLibrary Podcasts

Kids and Teens through 12th grade

 

We are looking to recruit some talented people who would be interested in doing a podcast in our recording studio. You could read a poem
or a short story that you have composed, or review a book, dvd, or cd.
Please contact Cheryl at 957-7755 to set up a date and time for your recording session.
1 hour of community service credit will be given for each recording session with a maximum of 3 hours of community service credit.

5th Grade & Up.

Need community service? Like to have your opinion heard? Earn 1 hour of community service credit by recommending books, music, and games to others. Forms & further instructions are located in the children's room. Reviews may be posted on our teen blog or in our newsletter. You may also record your review for our Podcast Project for additional community service credit.

 

Limit: 3 hours per student, per school year.
